Kondwani Tebulo in action as he scored a hattrick as Bullets Reserves beat Chilomoni FC 8-0

Reserves: Bullets run riot in 8–0 Chilomoni rout

FCB Nyasa Big Bullets Reserves produced a ruthless second-half display to demolish Chilomoni FC 8–0 at Kamuzu Stadium on Monday afternoon, securing all three points in emphatic fashion and boosting their push at the top end of the table.

First Half: Early Control, Solid Lead

The hosts laid the foundation early and were two goals up by halftime after controlling most of the opening period. Bullets signalled their intent as early as the third minute when Prince Chiumia opened the scoring, reacting quickest to a rebound after Francis Malikebu’s initial effort—set up by Kondwani Tebulo—was saved by Chilomoni goalkeeper Amon Kamwendo.

Chilomoni attempted to respond, earning a free kick in the eighth minute, but Matthews Nkunika dealt calmly with the danger. Another moment arrived for the visitors in the 16th minute from a corner, though Ganizani Banda stood firm to deny them.

Bullets continued to dominate possession and territory. Malikebu fired wide in the 21st minute, while Misheck Billiat missed the target six minutes later after a well-worked move initiated by Movic Banda. The pressure told again on the half-hour mark when Billiat won possession in midfield, surged forward and calmly slotted into the far corner to double Bullets’ advantage.

Chilomoni survived further scares before the break, with Malikebu missing a golden chance on the counter and Billiat seeing a corner saved. Despite a brief threatening spell late in the half, Bullets remained solid at the back to go into the interval leading 2–0.

Second Half: Relentless and Ruthless

The second half belonged entirely to the hosts. Bullets introduced Kondwani Mhone for Malikebu at the restart, injecting fresh energy into the attack. Precious Juma, Movic Banda and Billiat all tested the Chilomoni defence early on, but the goalkeeper initially kept the scoreline unchanged.

Relentless pressure eventually paid off in the 64th minute when Movic Banda made it 3–0, finishing a flowing move involving Tebulo, Oscar Petro and Chiumia. Four minutes later, Tebulo rifled home after Petro’s assist from a move started by Billiat on the left flank.

Bullets showed no signs of slowing down. In the 73rd minute, Billiat was brought down in the box and Movic Banda confidently converted the resulting penalty to make it 5–0. Tebulo then took centre stage, scoring twice in quick succession—first in the 76th minute after being set up by Mhone, and again in the 79th minute when Banda provided the assist to complete a well-deserved hat-trick.

With Bullets still hungry, the tempo remained high. Chilomoni earned a late corner in the 85th minute, only for Banda to clear decisively. Mhone nearly added another from a free kick in the 87th minute, but the goalkeeper denied him.

The rout was completed in stoppage time when Kondwani Chaula scored Bullets’ eighth, finishing a sweeping move that started with Chiumia and ended with Tebulo laying the ball into Chaula’s path for a powerful long-range strike.

What It Means

The emphatic victory lifts Bullets Reserves back into third place on 55 points, four behind second-placed Chilobwe United, as the ThumbsUp SRFL season heads into its final stretch. With one match remaining against Mighty Wanderers Reserves, Bullets will be aiming to finish in the top three and close the campaign on a high.

Post-Match Reaction

“First of all, I would like to thank the boys for the win,” said head coach Heston Munthali. “It took a lot of brilliance and discipline to achieve this result, and our game plan worked well. We found an early goal and controlled the match, though in the first half we created several chances and could have scored more.

“In the second half, we made a few changes, created more opportunities and, importantly, converted them. That allowed us to score six more goals. This margin doesn’t mean Chilomoni were an easy side—it took a change in attitude, hunger and desire from our boys.

“We’ll continue to take each game as it comes, go back to training, correct our mistakes and prepare properly for the final match of the season.”
