FCB Nyasa Big Bullets Reserves coach Henry Kabichi says his side will learn valuable lessons from Sunday’s defeat to FC Thondwe as they continue their 2026 SRFA FINCA Division League 1 campaign.
The reserves suffered a 2-0 loss at Mpira Stadium, bringing an end to their winning start to the season after last weekend’s victory over Mwanza Stars.
Reflecting on the result, Kabichi admitted his side fell short of both the performance and result they had targeted.
“We didn’t get the result or performance we were hoping for today. We created opportunities and had shots on goal, but unfortunately we failed to make them count,” said Kabichi.
“I was a bit surprised by the way we started the match because the players looked below their usual levels, despite showing positive signs during our preparations.”
Despite the setback, Kabichi was encouraged by his team’s response after the interval following a series of tactical adjustments.
The Bullets Reserves coach revealed that changes made during the break helped improve the balance of the side.
The adjustments also allowed his players to create more opportunities in the second half.
“At halftime, we made tactical adjustments because some aspects of our game were not meeting our expectations,” he explained.
“The substitutions brought fresh energy and a better balance to the team, and as a result we created more chances in the second half than we did before the break.”
While disappointed with the result, Kabichi remains focused on helping players continue their growth and prepare for greater responsibilities within the club’s structure.
The former Bullets midfielder stressed that while results remain important, preparing players for the next stage of their journey remains a key priority.
“We will go back, analyse what went wrong and continue working hard. This is a development side, and our focus remains on improving players through different tactical approaches and combinations,” he said.
“We want every player in the squad to have an opportunity to develop and contribute while helping the team grow stronger with each match.”
