Kalisto Pasuwa sat down with the Bullets media team to discuss Saturday’s TNM Super League clash against Ntopwa FC at Kamuzu Stadium.

The head coach spoke about the team’s preparations, how he rates the opponents, the return of the players who were away for two weeks due to Covid-19 and Peter Banda’s absence.

Read on to find out what he said in our pre-match interview.

On preparations:

“In terms of preparations, everything has gone very well and we are ready to play [Ntopwa]. I trust the boys to go there and fight for the points.”

On welcoming back the players who have been missing out due to Covid-19:

“Yes now we are having almost the full squad and it’s now up to the players to prove to to us that they need to play in the first eleven. They have to challenge for every position.”

His take on facing Ntopwa, a team which is a step ahead of Bullets on the standings:

They are a dangerous side and very energetic young players. We are not underrating them because they have shown how good they are against big teams. They are really a compact and an organized team and you know what you are going go expect. We need to be positive and we need to be on our level best so that we can collect points on the day against an equally good side, which is currently in the top five.

On playing without fans for the second time in a row due to Covid-19 restrictions:

“Fans are very important, but again we talked to the boys about the situation we are having and how we are going to have it probably for a very long period. We have been knocking sense into them to say we need to push on our own in order for us to be winning games. We have been trying to do everything in training as if supporters are there in in order for us to adapt and collect points.”

On playing without Peter Banda who has left for Moldova for trials:

“Peter Banda is one of the players who have been very important to the team. He was a player who was fitting in as a number 10, but anyone can come and fill up the void and we have been challenging the players to rise up to the occasion whenever given a chance. We are very optimistic that others will fill his gap and prove to us that they want to play.”
