International football is back for our first team as FCB Nyasa Big Bullets will this week be flying out to Equatorial Guinea for CAF Champions League.
As Kalisto Pasuwa’s men will be out in Malabo, our reserves will be kickstarting the second round of the 2023 ThumbsUp Southern Region Football League, with the women’s team gearing up for their second match in the FAM Women’s Football Southern Region League which rolled out at the weekend.
The youth team will also be involved as our youngsters will be looking to maintain their FCB Under-19 Youth Championship Group A top spot.
Here is a guide to how this week looks for the FCB Nyasa Big Bullets family…
First Team
Dragon FC of Equatorial Guinea awaits The People’s Team as the two sides will be facing off in the first leg of the first preliminary stage of the 2023 CAF Champions League on Sunday at Estadio de Malabo in the capital Malabo.
Bullets, who returned to winning ways in the TNM Super League on Sunday when we hammered Extreme FC 3-0 at Kamuzu Stadium, are scheduled to depart for the continental assignment on Thursday and are expected to be in Malabo the following day.
Having performed poorly in recent years, the Malawi champions will be hoping for victory against Dragon to progress to the second preliminary round where DRC’s TP Mazembe await Maule for a place in the group stages of Africa’s biggest club competition.
This will also be the first time for Bullets to travel to this part of the continent for international football, before hosting the opposition in the return leg at the Bingu National Stadium in Lilongwe on Sunday, 27 August.
Reserves
Enos Chatama’s boys were expected to kick start their second-round league campaign two weeks ago but they have been kept waiting as the Southern Region Football Association kept on rescheduling their fixture against Zomba Airbase in Zomba.
Our reserves will likely return to action but against another side, as the SRFA is expected to revise the fixture after the team’s impending trip to Mchinji for the Aubrey Dimba tournament has been cancelled in the eleventh hour. Details for the next opponent will be revealed later.
Women
Our ladies’ team started their 2023 FAM Women’s Football Southern Region League with a comfortable 12-0 victory over Bvumbwe on Saturday to open the campaign top of the standings in the eight-member league.
Next on the menu will be a home fixture against Red Lioness this weekend at a venue to be communicated.
Youth
Topping Group A with 23 points, our developmental team will face Soche Madrid in the FCB Under-19 Youth Championship this Saturday at a venue yet to be announced by the Youth Football Committee.
The first-round match ended 2-0 in favour of Autry Kalulu’s youngsters, who will go into this weekend’s encounter on the background of a 2-2 draw away to Manchester Motors.
In this campaign, Bullets Youth have only lost one game to Yizo Yizo Warriors.
