An update on Chimbamba’s injury

Richard Chimbamba suffered a concussion after colliding with Silver Strikers forward Atusaye Nyondo as he went for the ball inside the area during Saturday’s Castel Challenge Cup final at the Bingu National Stadium.

The 25-year-old was carried off the pitch in the 64th minute and rushed to Kamuzu Central Hospital where he regained his consciousness and was treated as an outpatient.

Providing an update, the club’s medical staff shared positive news saying the goalkeeper was out of danger, but he will have to be reassessed before the team resumes training ahead of the Airtel Top 8 final against MAFCO on Saturday.

Chimbamba was replaced by Clever Mkungula, who made his first appearance after recovering from an injury that kept him on the sidelines since August.

Our substitute ‘keeper saved two post-match spot kicks to inspire The People’s Team to a 4-2 victory over the Central Bankers as Kalisto Pasuwa’s side clinched a third silverware this season.

Bullets are hoping for a quadruple this campaign after winning the FDH Bank Cup, TNM Super League and the Castel Challenge Cup.
