FCB Nyasa Big Bullets have three nominations for the 2023 Castel Challenge Cup individual players’ awards.

The People’s Team, quadruple winners last season, won the inaugural Castel Challenge Cup after defeating Silver Strikers on 30 December.

Strikers Lanjesi Nkhoma and Hassan Kajoke have been shortlisted for Player of the Tournament while Richard Chimbamba is up for the Best Goalkeeper.

Kajoke, who scored four goals and Nkhoma, who finished the tournament with a goal, are in contention for the best player award against Silver Strikers’ Patrick Macheso.

Chimbamba, having featured four times and kept three clean sheets, is competing for the Goalkeeper of the Tournament award against Silver’s Pilirani Mapira and Rahaman John, a Bullets loanee at Bangwe All Stars before he was released and moved to Civil Service United last month.

Meanwhile, Emmanuel Saviel, another Bullets player on loan at Bangwe last term before he was loaned to Civil on another one-year loan deal a week ago, has been nominated for Discovery of the Tournament.

The Bullets Reserves graduate is in contention for the award against Bangwe’s Talandira  Chigaula and Chitipa United’s Grem Lemela.

The forward is also among the six players who will be sharing the Top Goal Scorer award after he netted five goals.

Winners will be awarded at a ceremony scheduled for 21 February in Blantyre.

FAM Competitions and Communications Director, Gomezgani Zakazaka, disclosed that the Competitions Technical Study Group produced the nominations after analysing the competition statistics.

The National Coaches Association, responsible for selecting Player of the Match in the competition, and a selection of football journalists, will pick the winners.
