Bullets voted Best Football Club at 2023 MBC Awards

FCB Nyasa Big Bullets have won the Best Football Club of the Year award at the 2023 MBC Entertainers of the Year Awards ceremony.

The People’s Team received the prestigious accolade in Lilongwe on Saturday night, a few hours after winning the Castel Challenge Cup following a 4-2 penalty shootout victory over Silver Strikers.

2023 has been an incredible season that has seen Kalisto Pasuwa’s side claim the recording-breaking treble and lifting the Airtel Top 8 against MAFCO next Saturday will see Bullets finishing the campaign with a quadruple.

In this delayed term, which ends on 6 January, Bullets successfully retained the TNM Super League title and the FDH Bank Cup before winning the inaugural Castel Challenge Cup.

Patrick Mwaungulu beat teammate Lanjesi Nkhoma and former Bullets captain Chimwemwe Idana to win the Footballer of the Year award.

The midfielder, voted Best Midfielder in Malawi last season, repeated his excellent performances in the 2023 campaign with important goals and assists that helped The People’s Team secure three trophies as they eye a fourth.

The 21-year-old scored eight goals and provided nine assists in the TNM Super League, including scoring winning goals against Bangwe All Stars, Civil Service United and Karonga United.

He scored two goals each in the FDH Bank Cup and the Castel Challenge Cup and has two assists in the Airtel Top 8.

Mwaungulu won four Man of the Match accolades in the Super League and one each in the three other competitions.

He was voted the Man of the Match with the Malawi National Football Team at the 2023 Hollywoodbets COSAFA Senior Challenge Cup in South Africa.
