The Super League of Malawi has unveiled the officiating lineup for the upcoming TNM Super League clash between FCB Nyasa Big Bullets and Mighty Tigers, scheduled for Sunday at Kamuzu Stadium.
Cedric Mwachumu has been selected to serve as the centre referee, marking his second assignment overseeing a Bullets league match. Recognized by the Football Association of Malawi as one of the top 16 centre referees for the 2024 and now 2025 season, Mwachumu brings solid experience from officiating Super League fixtures, including taking on the role of fourth official in high-profile games.
He first took charge of a Bullets match during our 3-1 league win over Karonga United last December, making his debut as the lead official for the refereeing team. This upcoming fixture will be his second involvement with Bullets this year, following his role as referee during our 5-0 friendly win against Changalume Barracks at Balaka Stadium last month.
Supporting Mwachumu on the field will be assistant referees Pondamali Tembo of Blantyre and Clement Kamwendo from Mwanza, both of whom bring considerable experience and have officiated Bullets matches before.
Tembo is a prominent figure in domestic football, frequently appointed for Super League ties and high-stakes matches. This will be his second Bullets assignment this season, following his role in the Airtel Top 8 semi-final match against Creck Sporting Club in April.
Currently part of the FIFA international panel, Tembo has represented Malawi in major continental tournaments, notably the 2024 COSAFA Cup in South Africa, and officiated in the 2026 FIFA World Cup qualifier between Central African Republic and Mali in March 2025. He is also one of only two referees from Malawi to have completed FIFA-certified VAR training.
Kamwendo is another seasoned assistant referee who brings over a decade of expertise to the team. He is a member of FAM’s elite panel for the 2024 and 2025 Super League campaigns and has been involved in numerous high-profile domestic fixtures, including Bullets’ 7-0 triumph over Songwe Border United in April.
Michael Mwambyale returns to the Bullets match officiating team, this time stepping into the role of Fourth Official after previously serving as centre referee in the Songwe match. He will be responsible for supervising substitutions and managing the technical areas throughout the game. Additionally, retired referee Hastings Nthuntha has been appointed as Match Assessor, tasked with upholding the highest standards of officiating.
