Lloyd Aaron, Babatunde Adepoju, Nickson Nyasulu and Chikumbutso Salima are competing for the Hubertus Clausius Player of the Month award for July.
In July, The People’s Team participated in six matches across all competitions, achieving four victories, one loss and one draw.
Our standout performance came in the FDH Bank Cup, where we dominated Bangwe All Stars 5-0 and then outplayed Mighty Mukuru Wanderers to secure a spot in the quarterfinals.
After a challenging period of five winless games, the Malawi champions rebounded with key results, finishing fourth in the TNM Super League and advancing to the last eight of the FDH Bank Cup.
As you consider your choice for the award, here’s a look at the nominees’ performances in July.
Lloyd Aaron
Aaron played in every match for Bullets in July, earning one individual accolade as he was named the TNM Super League Player of the Match in our 1-1 draw against his former club, Civil Service United. In different roles, the midfielder proved to be a loyal servant who delivered with credit throughout the July fixtures for the reigning champions.
Chikumbutso Salima
Since recovering from an early-season injury, Salima has made a significant impact. In July, the Bullets Reserves’ graduate scored two goals and provided three assists.
He earned four individual awards, including the Paramount Concrete Products’ Player of the Match three times and another from the Super League of Malawi for his performance against Bangwe All Stars, the club he spent on loan last season.
Just as he was reliable, he was also always available for us as he featured in all the games we played in July.
Nickson Nyasulu
With just 17 games played so far in all competitions this campaign, the defender has had more minutes than he had under his belt the whole of last season, thanks to his tendency to improve with each passing game this term.
He featured in every match and delivered strong defensive performances, notably earning the TNM Super League Player of the Match award for his display against Fomo. His reliability has become a key consideration for coach Kalisto Pasuwa’s weekly selections.
Babatunde Adepoju
Our Nigerian forward excelled with six goals across all competitions in July, making him the highest goal scorer for the month.
Baba rediscovered his scoring touch, netting in key moments including a goal against Bangwe All Stars in the FDH Bank Cup and a brace against rivals Mighty Mukuru Wanderers in the last 16. His league goals included strikes against Civil, Karonga United and Bangwe.
