Loan Watch | TNM Super League Week 6

Share

As the 2023 TNM Super League season unfolds, the majority of FCB Nyasa Big Bullets players loaned out continue to be involved.

We take a look at how everyone of them performed during Matchweek 6.

Mphatso Magaleta

Magaleta can’t just stop scoring as he, with yet another vital goal, found himself on the scoresheet last Saturday for Ekwendeni Hammers to register a 1-0 win over Chitipa United at Mzuzu Stadium.

Five minutes from the start of Saturday’s tie, the midfielder scored from the spot to secure Hammers’ second win of the season which has seen them move from 13th to 6th position in the TNM Super League standings.

They say a club must not fall in love with a player on loan but scoring three times in six appearances has the hearts of Ekwendeni fans won by Magaleta for he keeps on stepping up for the Northern Region side when they need him the most.

White Kitsen

The defender is steadily getting more playing time under his belt and not just passively but with a visible contribution to Ekwendeni Hammers’ run so far in the new term.  Out of the six matches Hammers have played, Kitsen has, together with his defensive partners, kept three clean sheets.

With the Hammers seeming to be low-scoring this season, they will rely much on their defensive resilience to win games and so far, Kitsen is proving to be a very good addition to their squad.

Felix Demakude

Having missed the home league fixture against Mafco through injury, Felix Demakude made a return to the squad in time before the Chitipa match. However, the Hammers coach, Elias Chirambo opted to start the young midfielder on the bench before introducing him in the 69th minute of the tie.

Effectively, Demakude went on to help his side to hold onto their lead to claim maximum points. In their next match, the versatile midfielder will be hoping to taste more game time as the Hammers prepare to host Karonga United at the Mzuzu Stadium on Saturday.

Emmanuel Saviel

The young forward made his fifth appearance of the season for Bangwe All-Stars when he featured against Mighty Mukuru Wanderers at the Kamuzu Stadium last Saturday. He continues to be putting up a fine work rate despite him not opening his goalscoring account in the Super League yet.

Against the Nomads, he played the whole match but at the end of it, he surely trudged down to the tunnel frustrated for failing to convert the two good chances he had in the first half. The struggle for goals is becoming real for Saviel in the elite league but his apparent persistence in trying to rediscover his scoring boot may soon provide a breakthrough.

Chikumbutso Salima

After missing the game against his parent club last weekend, the winger was in full action for Mabvuto Lungu’s side on Sunday against Wanderers.

As usual, the young prospect looked a threat each time on the ball and although he was tightly marked by Miracle Gabeya and Wisdom Mpinganjira, he still managed to smuggle some fine deliveries into the box which went begging for a touch to turn them into goals.

Salima, who has the most involvement in Bangwe’s goals this season, will be hoping to produce another spark to help his side register a second win of the season away to Silver Strikers at the Bingu National Stadium on Sunday.

Yamikani Mologeni

Our former Bullets Reserves captain played every minute of Bangwe’s tie against the Nomads and although he fared well in many situations, the two goals his defensive unit conceded on Saturday were damning to his overall performance.

The wingback will hope for a much better performance in his side’s upcoming fixture against the Central Bankers in Lilongwe.

Chimwemwe Yassin

Things are not turning out as expected for the creative lad who under Lungu’s tutelage has been unable to earn playing time. Against the Nomads last Saturday, Yassin was on the bench for Bangwe All Stars but finished the tie as an unused substitute.

What next

After their back-to-back home wins, Ekwendeni Hammers will now shift their eyes to their upcoming fixture against Karonga United. The trio of Bullets’ loanees at the Hammers will see the coming match as yet another opportunity to extend their playing time.

Having lost to Bullets and Wanderers in two back-to-back fixtures, Bangwe has another stern test to take this coming weekend as they are set to play Silver Strikers.
