Reserves: Bullets to face Zingwangwa in early Saturday clash

Fresh from a commanding 4-1 victory over Ntopwa FC, Bullets Reserves are gearing up for a 12:30 p.m. ThumbsUp Southern Region League top-of-the-table clash against Zingwangwa United at Kamuzu Stadium this Saturday.

With only two points separating the sides, the stakes are incredibly high. Bullets are looking to extend their lead at the summit, while Zingwangwa are eager to overtake their opponents and seize first place.

Led by Heston Munthali, our reserve team has found early momentum this season, earning an impressive 12 points from a possible 15 in their last five games.

Zingwangwa United have been equally formidable, collecting 10 points from their previous five outings and remaining hot on the leaders’ trail.

Clashes between these teams have been closely fought and thrilling in recent years, with five meetings since 2022. Bullets Reserves captured the Powerstart Tayale Cup with a 3-1 win in our initial showdown, but Zingwangwa struck back with a 1-0 victory in the opening round of the 2023 Nyasa Capital Finance Cup. Bullets then edged Zingwangwa 2-1 in that tournament’s quarter-finals.

Last season, the sides played to a 1-1 draw in the first leg of the league quarter-finals before Zingwangwa clinched a dramatic 2-1 win in the return leg.

Over these five encounters, both teams have secured two wins apiece, with one game ending in a stalemate.

With both squads in top form, supporters can anticipate an intense, high-quality matchup on Saturday. The excitement continues later in the day, with the Bullets first team set to take on Moyale Barracks in a friendly at the same venue, kicking off at 2:30 p.m.
