Bullets to face Silver in charity match

Nyasa Big Bullets will travel to Lilongwe to play Silver Strikers in a charity match on Saturday at the Bingu National Stadium.

Nzika Foundation, a charity organization, has organized the match involving the two TNM Super League teams to raise funds for needy University students.

While confirming the team’s participation in the event during the mid-season break, Chief Administrative Officer, Albert Chigoga, said the club made itself available as one way of giving back to the community.

“We feel it is important to participate in these kinds of activities,” he told club media. “We believe this is a good cause that will make a difference in the lives of the needy students.”

On why the club has accepted the invitation despite being in the middle of the season, Chigoga explained: “We thought the technical team would use this opportunity to give game time to the players who haven’t been playing.”

This will be the second time for the two teams to face off each other in a charity event organised by Nzika.

In April, a week before kicking off the new season, Bullets lost 1-0 to Silver Strikers to crash out of the Pamtsetse Top Four Bonanza, which also involved Mighty Wanderers and Civil Service United, to raise funds for Cyclone Ana victims.

In the first round of this TNM Super League campaign, Kalisto Pasuwa’s men beat Silver Strikers 3-1 at the Kamuzu Stadium in May.

The team is expected to arrive in Lilongwe on Friday without five players, Clever Mkungula, Precious Sambani, Blessings Mpokera, Chimwemwe Idana and Patrick Mwaungulu, who are currently with the Malawi national team for the COSAFA Cup in South Africa.
