Another action-packed weekend awaits three of our teams as the first team will welcome Karonga United and the reserves will be on the road to Mchinji.
While the youth team will also be in action, our women’s side continues preparing for the FAM Women’s Football Southern Region League 2023-24 campaign.
We take a look at what’s coming ahead this week…
First Team
Fresh from our comfortable 3-0 win over Balaka FC in the FDH Bank Cup round-of-16 at Balaka Stadium on Sunday, Kalisto Pasuwa’s charges will switch their attention to a home league assignment against Karonga United on Saturday.
The defending champions have had a mixed start to the 2023 season and recently dropped their first points at home following a 2-2 draw against Dedza Dynamos at Kamuzu Stadium a week ago.
It was the first time for Bullets to drop points at home in the first round after collecting maximum points in all of our first-round matches played at Kamuzu Stadium in the 2022 season.
Pasuwa, who, at the beginning of the current campaign, predicted a tough season for the defending champions, will be looking to bounce back from that stalemate in the Super League and focus on winning the remaining two games before wrapping up the first round.
His charges have never lost any match against Karonga United at Kamuzu Stadium and will be eager to maintain this perfect record over Saturday’s opponents.
The People’s Team is currently leading the summit with 26 points from 13 games, sharing the same number of points with Chitipa United who come second on the log table with an inferior goal difference.
Silver Strikers and Mighty Mukuru Wanderers come third and fourth with 25 points each, but the Bankers have scored more goals than our rivals.
Reserves
Enos Chatama’s charges will be travelling to Mchinji to play Chatoloma Admarc in the round-of-32 of the Aubrey Dimba Trophy at Aubrey Dimba Ground in Kapiri on Sunday.
Our team B was not in action last weekend, having finished the first round of the ThumbsUp Southern Region Football League on top of the standings.
Youth
After registering their first loss of the season in the FCB Under-19 Cup, Bullets Youth bounced back in style when they hammered Griffin Youngsters 5-2 to return to the summit of their Group with 12 points.
They will now host joint leaders Asima FC for the top-of-the-table clash on Saturday. A win will see them opening up a three-point lead at the top as the battle for supremacy hits up in the developmental league.
Women
There is no action for Maggie Chombo ladies who are still fine-tuning ahead of the new season in the FAM Women’s Football League.
