The People’s Team will have to forget the frustrating exit from the CAF Champions League at the weekend, losing 5-0 on aggregate to TP Mazembe of the Democratic Republic of Congo, and quickly move focus to domestic football.
It’s a new week in a new month and there is plenty of action for the main team, the reserves and the youth team.
The women’s team, however, will not be involved in any competitive action due to Malawi’s engagement at the upcoming Cosafa Women’s Championship in South Africa.
Let’s look at our official schedule this week…
First Team
Straight from the disappointing 4-0 defeat at the hands of TP Mazembe in the second preliminary round return leg away in the Democratic Republic of Congo on Saturday, Kalisto Pasuwa’s charges will resume their domestic competitions with two crucial games within a space of four days.
On Wednesday, the TNM Super League defending champions will host Bangwe All Stars at Kamuzu Stadium before travelling to Lilongwe for the FDH Bank Cup final against Mafco FC at Bingu National Stadium on Sunday.
Bullets are currently third in the league standings with 40 points from 19 games, six points behind the log leaders Mighty Mukuru Wanderers who have played 23 games.
The People’s Team will have to move on from the frustrating CAF Champions League outing to focus on retaining the local championship as the race for the title has now reached a boiling point where points will matter.
Reserves
Coming from their biggest win of the season, beating Mangochi United 11-0 at Kamuzu Stadium on Saturday, our team B will be looking to record another victory in their next match to maintain their spot at the top of the ThumbsUp Southern Region Football League.
The lads await the release of the next schedule by the Southern Region Football Association this afternoon to learn their next opponents in the qualifying round of the Premier Division league. Ntaja United, Mighty Wanderers Reserves, MDF Marine and FOMO are the four remaining teams to play Enos Chatama’s charges before the knockout phase.
Our youngsters are now on 30 points from 16 games and with four games left to play before the finish of the group stages, they lead Group B.
The young Maule are now level on points with Ntopwa FC, who have played a game more but can’t match our superior goal difference.
Youth
The young Bullets will face Griffin Youngsters in the last four of the FCB Under-19 Cup after they triumphed over our rivals, Mighty Wanderers Youth on away goal rule.
The Chitawira-based side, who played out to a goalless stalemate in the first leg at home against the young Nomads, scored two vital goals away to draw 2-2 and set up a semifinal showdown against Bullets Youth.
Women
Our women’s team will have to wait to be involved in any competitive game after contributing three players to the Malawi National Women’s Football Team that travelled to South Africa on Monday for the forthcoming Cosafa Women’s Championship in Gauteng starting this Wednesday until 15 October.
