FCB Nyasa Big Bullets’ Lanjesi Nkhoma and Maxwell Phodo have been nominated for the 2023 Airtel Top 8 Player of the Tournament award.
Football Association of Malawi (FAM) announced on Wednesday that the Bullets duo will face Mafco’s Christopher Mikuwa for the prestigious award.
Nkhoma, who is an automatic winner of the Golden Boot award after netting three goals, played three games and won one Man of the Match accolade.
Two of his goals were scored in the cup final to inspire The People’s Team to a hard-earned 2-1 victory over Mafco to complete a historic quadruple in January.
His teammate, Phodo, also had a splendid tournament in which he scored two goals against Civil Service United in the first and second quarterfinal legs.
The striker is the fourth player on the players with the most number of appearances in the 2023 Airtel Top 8 edition, one short of Nickson Nyasulu, who featured in all four games.
The award ceremony will be held by sponsors, Airtel Malawi, at the end of this month.
