FCB Nyasa Big Bullets Women will return to the field this Sunday afternoon as we welcome MK Academy to Kamuzu Stadium in our second fixture of the 2025 NBM Women’s Premiership.
The tie comes after a disappointing start to the campaign last weekend when we narrowly lost 1-0 to city rivals Ntopwa Women in the league opener.
Sunday’s match will also be our first outing without top scorer Tendai Sani, who recently completed a move to Zambian outfit ZISD. The prolific attacker was instrumental for Bullets last season, finishing as the country’s top scorer with an incredible 65 goals across all competitions.
Despite her departure and the setback in the opening match, head coach Maggie Chombo believes the team has the quality to bounce back and begin building momentum in the new season.
“We were disappointed with the result against Ntopwa, but this is a new game and a chance to show our character,” Chombo told club media. “Losing a player like Tendai is not easy—she gave so much to this team, and we’re proud of her move to Zambia. However, football is about adapting, and I believe we have the quality and determination to move forward. Our focus now is on MK Academy and making sure we correct our mistakes.”
The gaffer also pointed out the areas we must improve on to collect maximum points.
“We need to be more clinical in front of goal. Against Ntopwa, we created opportunities but failed to take them. On Sunday, we must be sharper in the final third and also stay compact at the back. MK Academy are a competitive side, and we need to be at our best.”
With Sani gone, the spotlight now turns to some of our exciting young talent, including Vanessa Issa and Asimenye Mwanyongo, who are expected to take on key roles in our attacking setup.
Kick-off at Kamuzu Stadium is scheduled for 14:30 CAT as Bullets Women look to register our first win of the campaign and begin the push for another successful season.
